The metadata tab

OmCore allows you to assign unique metadata to all pages of your website, including those generated dynamically by modules, such as blog pages. Good use of metadata can help to improve your search engine ranking. For more information on metadata: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meta_element

Meta data is managed on the 'Metadata' tab which is displayed when editing sites in the Sites module, editing pages, and when editing items in some modules.

Site metadata

Metadata can be assigned to a website within the Sites module (Website / Sites). By default, a site's metadata will be loaded onto every page of your website unless the page is primed with its own metadata.

Page metadata

Metadata can be assigned individually to pages when editing pages on the Site tree (Website / Site tree). If a page is not assigned metadata it will load its site's metadata.

Module metadata

Some modules, such as the Blog module, allow metadata to be assigned to their items. If an item is assigned metadata then this metadata will override the page's metadata when the item's details page is displayed. For example, if a blog article is being displayed then the blog articles metadata will be loaded. If an item is not assigned any metadata then its details page will adopt the page's, or site's, metadata.

The metadata options

The metadata tab contains the following options:

  1. This option is not available in the 'Sites' module.
