The text editor

Copying text from other documents

The text editor is a rich text editor which saves its content as HTML. If you copy and paste text from documents, such as Word documents, hidden characters can be copied across also. These can have an adverse effect on your content, and also sometimes cause it to be lost when saving.

To prevent this from happening you should:

  1. Select the content in the document from which you wish to copy.
  2. Click within the text editors content area to place the insertion point where you would like the copied text to be pasted.
  3. Click the Paste as plain text icon in the text editor's toolbar.
  4. Paste your content into the the pop-up window that appears.
  5. Click Ok to submit your content.
  6. Your content will appear in the text editors content area where the insertion point was located.

Important: It is strongly advisable to always produce your original copy within a 3rd party text editor and then copy and paste the content into the text editor once complete, so as to avoid potential loss of content when saving.
